Poem #13: In A Storm

Finding inspiration in misery,
I write down an elegy
Telling myself I forgive all
But do I really forgive me?

Others' judgement clouds my own
Tired of misinterpreting
I'm flawed, bruised and sore
I'm sick and tired of fretting.

I long for a day
To just explore and venture
Plunge into my darkest depths
Crash into joints and ruptures.

Expression was never hard before,
Irritation was never so costly,
Ignorance never seemed tempting,
Chaos is all that I can see.

Anger rolls down my cheeks
The child in me weeps aloud
Aggression grasps me in his claws
What is this really about?

Emotions coerce to light a fire
Burning bright behind my eyes
I'm tired of veils and curtains,
Finding comfort in lies.

Poetry is losing meaning
I want to slam the door
The dam wants to break
I can't take it anymore.

Afraid to disappoint
It's going too fast
I want to fall apart
But I'll see how far I'll last.

I would go with “It’s Going to Fast”, the third to last line in the poem. It really seems to capture the loss of control that flows through the poem.
